How Did This Project Start?

We rehomed two guinea pigs. My son and daughter were both so excited, but if you have kids, you know how it goes! My son lost interest quickly…

I wanted a way to keep him involved in caring for his pets.

I had enjoyed a few guinea pig videos on YouTube (and learned a lot from the contributions of others). So I thought we could document our journey as well!

Learning about YouTube is something my son is highly interested in, so he jumped at the idea

Making YouTube videos Endears His pets to Him again

We’ve had quite a few family laughs and learning moments while we make videos.

What Skills are My Son And I learning Together Through This Project?

Truly we are just getting started, so we appreciate any support you can give.

My son is very interested in the internet, especially YouTube. So I wanted to be his guide on the internet rather than fight about using it at a young age. In my website building business, I learn so much about online presence and digital marketing. So I will be teaching him what I know through this project.

How Do You Groom a Guinea Pig?

We have learned a lot about nail care, brushing fur, bathing, and preventing teeth problems.

COMING SOON…

Guinea pigs clean themselves! Occasionally they may need help in their rear area, and then you can bathe or partially bathe them.

(Our Blocky needs this. About once per month, I trim her hair around her bum and give her a partial bath. We do not bathe our other guinea pig Smores.)

Yes, about once per week is good.

It’s a good idea, especially if them have medium-length or long hair.

(We brush our Blocky, but usually not too often with Smores.)

No, you don’t brush their teeth. Yet the food you offer is very important to the health of their teeth and their overall health. They need unlimited access to hay so they can be chewing whenever they want and their teeth won’t grow too long, causing serious health problems.

There are some available vaccinations for guinea pigs but generally it isn’t needed. It is recommended to take guinea pigs to the vet annually. However, many owners don’t. I would like to share a story with you about why I probably won’t bring our guinea pigs to the vet again.
